چکیده

Obesity is recognized as a major, worldwide, health problem. Excess weight greatly increases the risk for cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and renal diseases. The present study was conducted in Department of Physiology, Index Medical College, Indore. 50 obese (25 male 25 female) non-obese were included. Sympathetic tests performed on both groups. All data are expressed mean± standard deviation. Comparison between groups (obese male, female using student's t-test (t-test two independent samples / Two-tailed test). Differences considered significance at p<0.05. It observed that young adults had reduced sympathetic activity. This altered balance autonomic nervous system disorders.

Relation of obesity and diet to sympathetic nervous system activity.

The hypothesis that dietary intake and obesity stimulate the sympathetic nervous system was investigated in a cross-sectional study of 572 men aged 43-85 years from the Normative Aging Study. Habitus was represented by body mass index, as a measure of overall adiposity, and by the ratio of abdomen-to-hip circumference (abdomen/hip ratio), as a measure of centripetal fat distribution. Sympatheti...

Role of sympathetic nervous system and neuropeptides in obesity hypertension.

Obesity is the most common cause of human essential hypertension in most industrialized countries. Although the precise mechanisms of obesity hypertension are not fully understood, considerable evidence suggests that excess renal sodium reabsorption and a hypertensive shift of pressure natriuresis play a major role. Sympathetic activation appears to mediate at least part of the obesity-induced ...

Sympathetic nervous system neuroplasticity.

In human and experimental models of heart failure there is widespread change in the sympathetic nervous system. This involves preferential activation of the sympathetic nervous outflow to the heart, impairment of norepinephrine reuptake by sympathetic nerves, and reduction of the content of norepinephrine in the failing myocardium, attributable in part to sympathetic neuronal rarefaction.1–4 Mi...
